Description
The Duke of Wellington Statue, located at General Register House on Princes Street in Edinburgh, was created by architects David Bryce and James Gowans between 1849 and 1852. The equestrian statue itself, designed by Sir John Steell, was completed in 1848. It features a bronze statue of the Duke in a heroic pose, with the horse rearing up on its hind legs, supported solely by its tail, and stands on a plinth made of red Aberdeen granite.
