Studio And Lamp Standards, Bella Vista, 62, 64 The Causeway, Edinburgh

The building at Bella Vista, 62 and 64 The Causeway in Edinburgh is a flat-roofed, single-storey structure that was originally a billiards house, dating from the later 19th century. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed from squared and snecked stugged sandstone. The south and west elevations feature three bays that are divided by large Jacobean balusters, which are set on pediments adorned with strapwork decoration. These are topped with fluted blocks and a cornice that originates from around 1840 and was repurposed from another site. The building has a moulded cornice and a blocking course.

On the south elevation, there is a two-leaf timber panelled door surrounded by a moulded stop-chamfered surround, which includes a Greek key design beneath the cornice. This door is flanked by windows that also have corniced tops.

Additionally, there are two decorative cast-iron lamp standards that flank the south elevation. The windows are made of plate glass set in timber sash and case frames, and the building features a felted flat roof.
