Description
The statue of Queen Victoria, created by John Stevenson Rhind in 1907, is a bronze pedestrian statue set on a sandstone pedestal, which was added in 1986. The pedestal features consoled, chamfered angles and a cornice, along with bronze bas relief plaques and cartouches. At the base, there is a circular granite plinth from 1986, adorned with decorative wrought-iron at the foot of the pedestal. The statue includes commemorative plaques for the 5th Volunteer Battalion of the Royal Scots, referencing their service in South Africa from 1900 to 1902, as well as a plaque commemorating Queen Victoria's entry into Leith in September 1842, which is also signed by J S Rhind and dated 1912.
