Description

Mid 19th century. 3-storey, symmetrical 5-bay tenement in late David Hamilton, early Alexander Thomson school, with shops at ground. Red sandstone rubble, cream ashlar to S elevation. Cill courses, cornice, architraved windows at 1st floor, bipartite windows with pilastered reveals and mullions.

S (CLYDE STREET/ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2-leaf panelled doorway to centre, 2 modern shop fronts to right, 19th century shop front to left No 45. Doorway to centre with fanlit 2-leaf folding door, half-glazed vestibule door, large plate glass display windows flanking. Blind window to centre with windows flanking at 1st and 2nd floor. Slightly advanced corniced bipartite window to outer bays at 1st floor; slightly recessed bipartites above.

Variety of glazing patterns, mostly replacements uPVC windows with some 4-pane sash and case windows. Grey slate roof, rendered corniced stacks to gables.

INTERIOR: No 45, corniced and compartmented plasterwork ceiling. Some original gaslight fittings. Boarded office to rear of shop with Art Nouveau stained glass windows.
