Description

William Railton of Kilmarnock, architect. Dated 1878.

Single-storey school, with 2-storey, detached schoolhouse to

south. Rubble built, with yellow ashlar dressings.

School: 3 broad bays; central bay advanced and gabled, with 3 close-spaced windows (tall central light) and flanked by

curved porch (separate boys' and girls' entrances) in

re-entrant angle. Single windows to outer bays. Straight

skews and end stacks.

Schoolhouse: 3 bays with door in central projecting gabled

porch, narrow window above. Straight skews and end stacks.

Most original lying-pane glazing survives; slated roofs.
