Duart Castle, Mull

Duart Castle, located on the Isle of Mull, is a significant structure that dates back to the later 14th century. The castle is oblong in shape and consists of three storeys plus a cap-house. It is constructed from random rubble and features a modern slated roof, a flush parapet, and slit windows. Inside, the first storey houses the kitchens, while the second storey contains the Banqueting Hall. The castle is surrounded by a curtain wall on three sides of the courtyard, which is likely older than the keep itself. The entrance is located on the southwest side and is accessed by stairs.

Additionally, there is a house that dates from the 17th century, designed in an L-plan. This structure has two storeys and a garret, with corbie-step gables and dormer windows. Above the entrance in the northeast arm, there is a lintel inscribed with 'SAM 1653' and adorned with armorial bearings. A turnpike stair is located on the northeast side, and the house is integrated into the northeast and southeast sides of the courtyard, featuring windows in the curtain walls.
