Description
The Steading and Stables at Torosay Castle on the Isle of Mull date back to around 1780, as indicated by an estate map from 1829, with mid-Victorian additions. The building is nearly symmetrical and features a central Italianate tower, along with screen walls and gables on the outer ranges. Constructed from ashlar stone, it has hipped slate roofs topped with a finial on the tower. The tower includes a three-light top storey, arched recesses on the first floor, and square-headed openings with dipmoulds on the ground floor. The screen walls have similar blind windows, elliptical carriage arches (with the right-hand arch being blind), and blind round-headed windows in the outer gables. The east range features a central gable, lying-pane glazing, dormers, and banding doors. There are also ruinous buildings within the courtyard.
