Description
Torosay Castle, located on the Isle of Mull, is a Scots Baronial mansion built in 1856 by architect David Bryce. The building features distinctive corbie-step gables and a square tower topped with a corbelled and crenellated parapet. The entrance front showcases an aediculed window, a stepped stringcourse, and a knotted rope motif. There is also a round tower with a conical roof. Inside, the original interiors include a massive Jacobean staircase in the entrance hall, with the south front exhibiting more Jacobean elements. The castle is adorned with fine balustraded parapets that lead down to the gardens, which are terraced and attributed to Sir Robert Lorimer.
