Description
East Lodge at Ardarroch House, located on Arrochar Road in Finnart, was likely designed by David Bryce around 1846. This single-storey lodge is built in a T-plan layout.
The exterior features rubble stonework with polished sandstone margins and dressings, projecting eaves, and exposed rafters. It has a base course and quoin strips with stugged rybatts.
On the south elevation, there are three asymmetrical bays. The broad, gabled bay on the outer right has a canted window with a piended lead roof at its center, and a pier pilaster replaces the center light. To the outer left, there is a door flanked by a narrow window in the wing.
The north elevation has a roof that sweeps down over a projection to the right, with a tripartite window directly below the eaves featuring wooden mullions. There is a lower gabled block to the outer right and a blank bay to the outer left. A later addition is a tall, rendered two-storey block at the rear, which has bipartite windows at the ground level and a bipartite dormer head.
On the west elevation, there is a broad gable to the outer right, with an off-centre window to the left and another window in the lower bay to the left. A later rendered two-storey block is located to the outer left.
The lodge features plate glass windows with 12 and 4-pane sash designs, a grey slate roof with lead flashings, and a broad corniced ridge stack on a pedestal base.
