Fairview, Low Askomil, Campbeltown

Fairview is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house with classical details, located in Low Askomil, Campbeltown. The house features cement rendered and lined walls with droved ashlar margins, a base course, a cill course at the first floor, and an eaves course. At the center of the ground floor, there is a pilastered doorpiece with an entablature, leading to a four-panel entrance door topped by a four-pane fanlight.

To the right, there is a single-storey wing that projects outward, which has a margin around it and a modern door at the center. On either side, there are symmetrically placed cement rendered link walls that project east and west, each with doorways leading to the rear garden. These walls are also cement rendered with raised margins.

The upper floor features four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor has modern glazing. Inside, there is a two-panel inner entrance door with etched glass at the top and a two-pane fanlight above it. The roof is a grey slate piended design, equipped with cast-iron gutters and downpipes. There is a vertically-boarded timber door in the east link wall and a wrought-iron gate in the west link wall.

The boundary walls consist of random rubble walls that enclose the west and north sides of the garden. A random rubble wall borders Low Askomil, featuring stugged and droved square gatepiers that are corniced with semicircular facetted caps. Additionally, there is a roughcast retaining wall with iron spikes on top along the north side of the drive.
