Description
12 Easdale Island, Seil is a later 19th century single-storey cottage with a rectangular plan, originally consisting of three bays but now expanded to four. The exterior is finished in harled whinstone and slate rubble, featuring irregular window placements and overhanging eaves with barge boarding.
The northwest (principal) elevation is asymmetrical and has been extended to the left. It showcases a variety of window sizes, including a modern timber door with glazed astragals located in the bay to the right of the centre, which marks the original cottage's centre.
On the southeast (rear) elevation, the fenestration is more regular, with a modern advanced gabled bay to the right that includes a gable end stack, windows on the returns, and a large picture window on the gable end.
Both the southwest and northeast side elevations are finished with harled gable ends. The windows are timber, featuring fixed small panes and hopper designs. A chimney stack is located on the southwest gable. The front is covered with felt tiles, while the rear is finished with large Spanish slates and lead flashing.
The interior was not seen during the inspection in 2001.
