Description

42-44 Longrow in Campbeltown is an early 19th-century, three-storey, seven-bay tenement. The building features roughcast walls with painted dressings, cill courses at the first and second floors, and a lintel course along with a cornice at the eaves. The windows and corners are margined. The first and second bays have a timber shopfront (No 46), with a central door flanked by fluted pilasters and shop windows. The shopfront for the third to seventh bays dates from the mid-20th century. At the rear, there is a circular rubble stair tower. Ell stones are positioned flanking the entrance to the close on the left.

The building has timber sash and case windows, with 12-pane windows on the first and second floors in the four bays to the left, and plate glass in the three bays to the right. The shop door for No 46 is panelled and features two round-arched glazed upper panels. The roof is covered in grey slate, with a conical shape over the stair tower. There are four roughcast coped apex stacks with circular cans, and skew copes with scrolled skewputts at the end gables and between the fourth and fifth bays.
