Description
The Harbour Walls on George Street in Oban were built around 1880. This structure extends north to south along the west side of George Street and Queens Park Place. At road level, there is a parapet that is made of ashlar stone on Queen's Park Place and concrete on George Street. The parapet features a crenellated design with saddleback copes and projecting seat recesses, and there is a ramp leading down to the harbour floor at the northern end. The corners of the wall are marked by octagonal, ashlar, capped posts, which also flank the bridge at Queen's Park Place. Below the parapet, the wall is constructed of bull-faced red sandstone to the south and random rubble to the north.
