Description
The Steading at Old Baldragon Farmhouse is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse that has an L-plan shape due to a slightly later, lower two-storey service wing at the rear. The building is constructed from rubble whinstone masonry with eroded thin harling and features sandstone dressings. It has a slate roof, although the rear is covered with corrugated asbestos. The doors and windows have droved margins and a plate glass glazing pattern. The coped skews have moulded skew ends, and the end stacks are made of ashlar and brick with thackstanes.
On the south elevation, there is a door with a narrow fanlight at the center, flanked by windows in the left and right bays, and three windows on the first floor. The right return gable is blank. The west elevation features a gable on the right with a window at both the ground and first floors. The service wing on the left has a door on the right, a partially blocked window on the left, and two windows on the first floor. The north elevation shows ruinous doorways at the center of both the ground and first floors, with a blank gable advanced at the right that has a door at the re-entrant.
Inside, the farmhouse contains fielded panelled doors, and some rooms have simply moulded cornices. There is also a 19th century range.
The steading is a rectangular-plan building made of rubble with eroded thin harling and a corrugated sheet metal mono-pitch roof. The south elevation has four segmental arches, with all but the second from the right being built up. There are shanty additions at the rear.
