Description

The building at 20-22 East High Street in Forfar is a bank designed by David Mackenzie in 1832. It is three stories tall and features a main section with four windows, along with a projecting wing on the east side that has three windows. The western part of the building has been defaced and repaired with stucco, and the ground floor was altered in the early 20th century. The wing is in a state of significant decay, although it originally had a pilastraded ground floor with a wreathed entablature. The building was re-categorised as C(S) from B in 2006, reflecting its group interest, and the listing applies to both the interior and exterior as appropriate for this type of building.
