Description
Auchnagathle is a house dating back to around 1800, originally featuring a single-storey and attic rear wing likely attached to a contemporary front range. The front range was replaced around 1870, resulting in the present two-storey and attic, three-bay house. A distinctive, earlier Gothick porch, which may have been reused from a previous building or imported, is a prominent feature. The house is constructed from squared rubble with polished dressings. The main front has a bipartite window on the ground floor. The rear wing incorporates a dairy room with walls lined in Caithness slate and very tall chimney stacks. A detached stable block, dating back to around 1850, stands nearby, comprising a stable, carriage house, and a loft above.
