Description
Keig Parish Church is a Gothic-style building constructed between 1834 and 1835. It was designed by John Smith and comprises a rectangular main body with a western porch and bellcote. The church is built of squared granite, featuring a four-window southern flank and two square-headed north windows with wooden perpendicular tracery. Angle buttresses and pinnacles are also present.
The interior was rearranged in 1891 by W.L. Henderson, and further alterations were carried out in 1902 by A. Marshall Mackenzie. The original gallery was U-shaped in design. Some of the internal furnishings are original, including a good brass lamp standard and other oil fittings. The church remains in use as an ecclesiastical building. Contracts were signed on December 27, 1834, and records relating to the heritors exist.
