Description
The Manse of Midmar, known as St Aidan's, was built in 1840. It is a two-storey building with three windows, constructed from rubbled stone. The entrance features a porch with a round-arched doorpiece, a panelled door, and a vertically-paned fanlight. The windows are designed with mullion and transom crosses. An addition to the northeast, built by James Matthews in 1861, includes a canted window. At the rear, there is a three-stage bowed stair tower at the center of the original house, along with a single-storey rear porch and a service range that projects at right angles.
