Description
Cruden Parish Church was built in 1776 and originally featured a round-arched squared granite rectangle with a birdcage bellcote at the west end. A large addition was made by John Smith between 1833 and 1834, which included a symmetrical north front with a flat roof, except for a central gable. The design also included twin porches with circular conical-roofed angle towers. The west porch was replaced by a session house in 1840. An organ chamber was added to the centre of the south front, and a gable was added to the centre of the north front by G. Bennet Mitchell in 1913. The interior is galleried with columns at both levels. The pulpit from 1834, which has a sounding board, is still present but not in its original position. There is also a circular font from the 12th century and a Dutch bell dated 1519.
