Description
St James' Chapel, located on Chapel Hill in Cruden, was designed by William Hay and built between 1842 and 1843. It is originally a six-bay buttressed rectangle featuring lancet windows. The chapel has a slim western tower topped with gablets and a pinnacled spire. The chancel was added in 1876 and includes an eastern end with three lancets. The structure is made of pinned granite rubble. Inside, the chapel has a plain interior and stained glass created by Wailes. It also features an early font, which has a later I.H.S. vesica added. The chapel houses a bell made by J. Taylor in 1843.
