Description
Stonehaven Harbour is a 16th century structure that was extended between 1825 and 1835 by Robert Stevenson, with repairs made in the 1970s. The harbour features middle, inner, and outer basins, along with four piers: the Net Pier or Old Pier (before 1795), South Pier (1825-1826), Fish Jetty (1830s), and Breakwater (1901-1908). The Net Pier is built with vertically coursed masonry, while the South Pier has masonry arranged in inclined courses. The South Pier has high coped rubble parapets, which, along with the Fish Jetty, form the inner basin. The original rubble works have been modified with sheet piling.
