Description
Kininmonth House is a two-storey and attic main house with a T-plan layout, dated 1740 at the rear. It has a five-window front, with the first floor being taller than the ground floor. The house is harled, with a moulded eaves course that runs straight and skews. Originally dormerless, the main house features chamfered margins to the windows, except at the doorpiece, which has square margins with rudimentary bases and capitals. Above the doorpiece is a rectangular fanlight composed of oval lights, a later 18th or early 19th century addition likely from Hillhead, Crimond. A semi-circular bay window in the Fyfestone section was added more recently. A lower, two-storey rear wing dates back to the 17th century. The interior has been completely remodelled, retaining a fine U-plan staircase supported by reeded columns, similar to those found at Haddo House in Crimond. The house was built by Charles Cumine on the occasion of his marriage.
