48 High Street, Stonehaven

46 High Street in Stonehaven is a terraced tenement building dating from around 1800, with later alterations. It is three stories high with an attic and has a rectangular plan with three bays. The exterior is harled, featuring stone-mullioned wide-centre tripartite windows that have blocked centre lights. There is a segmental-arched pend that is also blocked, and the windows are widely spaced.

On the southwest, or principal elevation, the ground floor includes a segmental-arched former pend opening with a two-leaf boarded timber door in the centre bay. To the right, there is a modern door and window in what was a shopfront opening, and to the left, there is a modern shopfront beneath a timber fascia. The centre bay has a tripartite window, with flanking single lights on the first and second floors. Canted dormer windows are located over the outer bays, with a small rooflight positioned off-centre to the left.

Above the ground floor, the windows feature 4- and 12-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped brick stacks with cans, along with ashlar-coped skews.
