Description
Lauriston Castle is an early polygonal castle with significant remains on the west side, along with later additions. It features a 17th century L-plan tower house located in the south angle, which has been incorporated into a large three-storey mid-Georgian house that has seven windows, with the central three being pedimented and linked by margins and strings, along with a later porch. The older third of the structure, which included the tower house, has been demolished, and the remainder is in a state of disrepair. Additionally, there is an earlier 19th century wing that extends the frontage north-eastwards. This wing is two-storey, has six windows, is made of plain ashlar, and features a balustraded parapet adorned with urns. The property is still occupied.
