Description

Bridgend, located on Cowgate in Inverbervie, is a late 19th century, 2-storey, 3-bay L-plan villa featuring classical details and built on a sloping site. The exterior is rendered with painted sandstone ashlar dressings, including a base course, a dividing band course, strip quoins, and stop-chamfered reveals on the windows of the southwest elevation.

The southwest (entrance) elevation is symmetrical with three bays and includes a single-storey piend-roofed wing attached to the outer left. It features a bracketed cornice above the central doorway, which has a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, with a single window above on the first floor. The ground floor has 3-light canted windows in the left and right bays, while the first floor has tripartite windows.

On the northwest elevation, there is an advanced single-storey wing with a doorway and a single window on the first floor behind it. The southeast elevation displays an irregular arrangement of windows and a doorway. The northeast elevation features an advanced 2-storey wing on the outer left with a single window on the ground floor, a full-height stair tower in the central bay, and single windows on both the ground and first floors in the outer right bay. The villa has 4-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with coped gablehead stacks, moulded octagonal cans, a stone finial on the rear wing gable, yellow fireclay ridging, and decorative cast-iron brackets for the rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The property is also enclosed by boundary railings with fleur-de-lys heads along the street and high rubble boundary walls elsewhere.
