Description
Corse House is an early 19th-century building, originally a main block of two stories and three windows, constructed of squared granite rubble with harl pointing, featuring cherry-cocking. The ground floor incorporates rectangular bays of ashlar, displaying tripartite windows, modillioned cornices, blocking courses, and a moulded eaves course with consoles. A later wooden porch, with an anta design and a pediment, sits at the centre, featuring a fanlight above the entrance. The roof is piended, with two substantial chimneys positioned at the gables. Symmetrical wings, also with piended roofs and only one window each, flank the main block. A two-story rubble back wing, likely added about ten years later, is also present. The building is distinguished by its very fine detailing, and retains some good original plasterwork internally. The statutory address is Corse House (now a farmhouse, with a portion divided into a separate dwelling).
