Description
The Mill of Bonnyton is an early 19th century meal mill featuring a two-storey and attic L-plan design built into the bank. It is constructed from squared, pinned granite rubble. A notable feature is the single frame 6-spoke mid-breast iron wheel, which is dated "1835 Grandholm Foundry" and located in the west gable. There is a gabled loft entrance opening to the bank on the north side, and a small lean-to on the south side next to two doors and windows. The mill has straight skews, a slate roof, and a chimney over the kiln, which was temporarily removed in 1984. Inside, the mill still retains two pairs of meal stones, an oat bruiser, a pearl barley machine, and a drying kiln.
