Description
The Old Mill of Durno, dating from around 1800, is a three-storey building situated on a bank, with the top floor accessible via an embankment. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed from coursed rubble with harl-pointed finishes. At the southern end, there is a brick kiln with a vent. The mill features a double-framed water wheel that starts at 10 feet and has a by-pass, although the sluice and floats are almost completely rotted away. Inside, there is late 19th century machinery made by D. Thomson, Millwright, from Craibstone, which is complete and partially operational with an electric motor.
