Royal Insurance Company, 210 Union Street, 208, Aberdeen

The Royal Insurance Company building, located at 210 Union Street and 208 Huntly Street in Aberdeen, is a late 19th century, three-storey corner structure featuring a canted angle bay. It has two bays facing Union Street and a return to Huntly Street, showcasing Renaissance architectural details. The ground floor is constructed of banded granite, while the upper floors are polished.

The ground floor features an arched opening with a cavetto moulding and keystone, along with one flat-headed door. A cornice runs above the ground floor. The angle and flanking bays are framed by giant Ionic engaged columns, with pedimented windows and pilasters flanking the outer bays, while the remaining windows are also keystoned.

Above, an entablature is supported by scrolled brackets, which hold an octagonal cupola. This cupola is framed in the Ionic order, featuring arched openings, and it supports a stone dome topped with a finial.
