Description

  1. 2-storey and attic, compact 7-bay former college building with central gable and simple Gothic decoration. Grey granite ashlar; base, string and blocking courses. Bipartite windows with chamfered reveals. 3-bay centre gable with simple, pinnacled buttresses and apex pinnacle; round-arched opening at attic level. Similar pinnacles over outer angle buttress strips. Elaborate, crocketted and leaded central ridge fleche with finial and weathervane.

Archway to left: pointed arch with crenelated and coped parapet; small sandstone statuette of John Knox to centre. Finely wrought double leaf iron gates. Irregular massing to altered N elevation with segmental-arch doorway to re-entrant angle; arcaded ground floor openings to left.

Predominantly non-traditional tilt and turn glazing; grey slate; chamfered end stacks; ashlar skews; clay cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
