Description
The Temperance Drinking Fountain in Duthie Park, Aberdeen, was designed by James Hunter in 1883. It is made of polished granite and features a circular plinth set on flagstones. The fountain has tooled inscriptions that read, "In commemoration of the advance of temperance under the auspices of the Aberdeen Temperance Society in the year 1882" and "Thou givest them water for their thirst, IPH 9-20." The basin is made of polished pink granite and is supported by three granite columns that hold up a grey granite canopy topped with a spherical finial. Additionally, there are square pink granite plinths that support pink granite urns located to the north, west, and east of the fountain.
