3 The Square, Clough, Downpatrick, Co Down, BT30 8RB

This is a small, two-story terrace house likely built in the mid-19th century, situated on a slope on the north side of The Square in the village of Clough. The house has undergone substantial renovation, particularly in the 1990s, and now features PVC windows and doors.

The asymmetrical front facade is finished in unpainted lined render. The ground floor has a central PVC front door, with a small PVC-framed window to the left and a similar window to the right. A larger, Victorian-style shop window with a three-light frame formerly occupied the space to the right of the front door. To the left of the ground floor, there is a PVC patio door with a window to its right. Three windows, matching those on the ground floor, are positioned on the first floor, with two further windows set slightly left of centre. The roof is gabled and covered in artificial slate, with PVC rainwater goods.

Valuation records from 1836 indicate a single-story dwelling occupied the site at that time, belonging to a James Blakely. Blakely, or a relative of the same name, was still resident around 1860. By this time, the rateable value of the property had increased from £3-6-7 to £5-10-0, suggesting the building was raised to its present height.
