272 Head Rd., Annalong, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4QN

This is a terrace of five buildings located in Mullartown, Annalong, Newry, dating from between 1820 and 1839. The terrace is aligned along a slope, facing south-east. The terrace begins with a single-storey dwelling at the north (uphill) end, followed by a small infill building currently used as a store, a two-storey dwelling, and finally, two contiguous outhouses attached to the south end. All the buildings have gabled, slated, and coped roofs. The two-storey dwelling has a central vertically boarded entrance door on its south-eastern facing façade, flanked by bays featuring modern top-hung windows. This house appears to be a direct entry type, with a chimney on its right-hand gable. The infill building has a replacement door and likely occupies the site of a former cart house. The second dwelling is two-storeys high, with a central chimney, a front door at the uphill end leading directly to the kitchen and a room beyond. This dwelling also features two modern ground floor windows, two upper floor windows and a small window on its downhill gable. A small front garden, enclosed by a dry stone wall and containing mature bushes, belongs to this dwelling. The outhouses are single-storey and have small modern windows, sheeted modern doors, and roofs of corrugated metal and asbestos cement. Only two buildings were shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map, with a third added by the 1859 edition. The buildings demonstrate vernacular characteristics.
