Description

Right-hand house of a pair of picturesque symmetrical one-and-a-half storey/ two-bay estate houses set to north of a large walled garden (HB16/05/068) within Mourne Park demesne. Gabled natural slate roof with plain projecting bargeboards and eaves. A coped brick chimney on the party wall serves both properties and there is also a chimney to each gable. Half round cast iron and plastic rainwater goods. Walls are squared and coursed granite rubble brought to courses and openings are dressed in brick. All windows have finely dressed granite cills. Main façade faces south west. Main entrance door at ground floor right. Door is sheeted and painted. It is sheltered by a slated gabled hood supported on timber brackets. To its left is a 6/6 sliding sash window with horns and to its right is a six paned casement window. Directly above the former is a smaller 6/6 sliding sash window in a dormer rising from eaves. Façade of left-hand house is the mirror image. At rear ground floor, there is a large 6/6 sliding sash window at left and a sheeted back door at right. To right of door is a small six-pane casement window. To first floor left, above the ground floor window, is 6/6 sash window in a dormer rising from eaves. The left house is the mirror image. Right gable is blank. There is the ghost of the roof of a one-storey lean-to, the walls of which have been removed. At front is an original cobbled path with a dressed granite edging. Immediately opposite is the large walled garden.
