Description
The site, located on the east side of Fountain Street in Downpatrick, was formerly occupied by a large, modern-style residential block of flats built in 1958. Designed by N.B. Mitchell, the building was demolished in August 2000 and the site is now vacant. It consisted of three long, flat-roofed blocks of flats with rustic brick end walls and windows arranged in long horizontal bands. The longest block, which faced the main road, had a distinctive curved plan. A survey from around 1992 described the building as a residential complex. The site's earlier use was as a terrace house.
