Former Harbour Office, The Docks, Warrenpoint, Newry, Co Down

This two-storey, square building occupies the north-west corner of the docks in Warrenpoint, County Down and is currently used as an office by a shipping agent. It appears to have been constructed between 1940 and 1959, and was not present on Ordnance Survey maps or in valuation books before 1931. The building’s architectural style is likely inter-war.

The principal, north-east facing elevation has a flat concrete roof behind an eaves parapet. The walls are smooth-rendered and painted, with moulded string courses at ground floor and first floor levels, and again beneath the roof parapet. Three shallow pilasters delineate the three window bays on the front. There are three modern, top-hung, 1/1 sash windows on the ground floor, and matching windows on the first floor. A "Jenkins Shipping Co Ltd" sign is affixed to the parapet, along with an electric clock at the right end. The south-east elevation has two narrow windows on the ground floor, and two larger windows on the first floor which are not aligned. An identical sign is present on the roof parapet. Two rendered chimneys rise from the parapet: one in the middle and another at the left end. The south-west rear elevation features a one-and-a-half storey extension at ground floor level on the right side. The north-west elevation has a modern six-panel timber door with a transom, positioned centrally, and a window to each side. There are also two windows in line on the first floor. A rendered chimney rises from the middle of this roof parapet. The building has aspects of industrial archaeological interest.
