Larne and Inver Parish Church Hall, Curran Road, Larne, Co Antrim

This is a single-story church hall built in 1931, designed by Godfrey Ferguson as the parochial hall for St Cedma’s Church of Ireland church. The foundation stone was laid on 6 October 1931, and the building was opened on 24 May 1932. Hugh Girvan and Sons were the builders. The hall is constructed of rustic brick with a gabled and hipped roof covered in Westmoreland green slates. A gabled and segmentally arched entrance porch features a recessed three-light cusped fanlight, imparting a slight Tudor influence to the otherwise plain design. It includes a lead cupola on a louvered roof ventilator, along with cast iron gutters and downpipes with ornamented hoppers. The building’s original character has been significantly diminished by the wholesale replacement of its windows with inappropriate style PVC windows, which are fixed lights with side-hung casements set in rectangular openings. A smooth cement render covers the rear wall. The hall occupies a slightly elevated site facing a main road and is approached by a flight of steps, with a grassy lawn between the building and a rustic brick boundary wall with railings.
