This is a well-preserved example of a rare vernacular thatched cottage, dating from approximately 1820 to 1839. The cottage is single-storey and has harled and whitewashed walls, with a later wooden porch. It features timber sash windows with vertically hung sashes. Significantly, the original roof timberwork remains intact. A building is depicted on an Ordnance Survey map of 1831-32, and the cottage is recorded in the second valuation of 1860, then occupied by Jane Macklemain, with Col. Charles P. Leslie as the lessor; the rateable value at that time was 10 shillings. The structure is notable for its thatched roof, vernacular character, and well-preserved structural system. It holds local historical interest.
