Description

The building is a water fountain situated in a prominent roadside location in Beragh, County Tyrone. It is likely to have been constructed between 1920 and 1939, and is considered to be of industrial archaeological interest. The fountain features a plain, shaped, fluted column inscribed with the name “Glenfield & Kennedy Ld, Kilmarnock”. It has a lion’s mouth spout. The fountain is missing its top, and it is not as complete as other listed fountains in the village. Ordnance Survey maps from 1906 and 1937 (reference PRONI Ref OS 10/6/44/5/1 and 2) show several pumps in the village, but not at this specific location, indicating the fountain was installed after 1936.
