Description

This is a two-storey, three-bay farmhouse aligned north-south on the north side of the road, located directly west of Newtownbutler village in County Fermanagh. The house was constructed between 1860 and 1879 and is first mentioned in a valuation revision book entry from 1875.

The building has been significantly altered and now features an artificial slate, hipped roof with tiled skews. A wet-dashed chimney is set perpendicular to the ridge, between each bay. Overhanging boxed eaves are supported by timber brackets, and ogee plastic rainwater goods run along the roofline. The walls are wet-dashed over a painted, cement-rendered base course. Windows are top-hung timber casements with concrete cills. The principal, east-facing elevation has a modern, panelled timber door set within a semi-elliptical reveal. This is flanked by Doric columns raised on a plinth, supporting a plain entablature, and is topped with a semi-elliptical fanlight featuring radial glazing. Windows are located to either side of the doorway. Above the ground-floor openings are three further windows.

The south elevation has an addition to the ground floor on the left, alongside a window to its right. The addition is monopitched with an artificial slate roof and is detailed as a house. Its south face features a window on the left and a centrally positioned window (obscurely glazed). A modern timber door is set at the right cheek, while the left is blank. The rear, west-facing elevation has three equally spaced windows on each floor. The north elevation has a single window to the ground floor left.

The property sits within a maturely planted garden enclosed from the road by a modern balustraded boundary wall. It has undergone alterations dating to 1979.
