Bridge, Killaghy, Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh, BT92

This is a well-constructed bridge, although it possesses no particular architectural, historical, or landscape significance. Built in the later 1800s, likely between 1860 and 1879, it carries a one-and-a-half lane minor road over a stream. The bridge is constructed entirely of randomly-laid, finely-dressed limestone blocks. Each voussoir is embellished with a rusticated keystone. The parapets terminate in projecting piers, finished with finely dressed sandstone blocks having a pitched top face. The faces of the pier copings exhibit margined rustication. A road was not shown at this location on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, but was present by 1857 when a wooden bridge was documented at the stream crossing. The current bridge, which is depicted on the 1907 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, is the one currently standing. While not formally listed, the bridge possesses some industrial archaeological interest.
