Lurganboy Bridge, Lurganboy, Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh, BT92

This is a small bridge carrying the Newtownbutler to Clones road over a stream. It is of some interest due to its differing construction styles, likely dating to the late 18th century and mid-19th century. The bridge features a semicircular arch. The north (uphill) face is constructed of small, squared sandstone blocks, irregularly laid, and includes a finely dressed voussoir. In contrast, the south (downstream) face uses random rubble masonry with roughly-dressed voussoirs. Both parapets are coped with large, irregular blocks. The interior of the arch has been gunited, concealing the join between the two construction sections; the upstream face is demonstrably a later addition. The bridge is shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map and is explicitly captioned 'Lurganboy Br' on subsequent editions (1857 and 1907). It is of industrial archaeological interest.
