Burrell's Folly, Burrell's Glen, Omagh Road, Drumquin, Co Tyrone, BT78 4QX

The remains of Burrell’s Folly are located on the Omagh Road, Drumquin, in the townland of Drumnaforbe, Co Tyrone. The site first appears on the second edition Ordnance Survey map of 1854, replacing an earlier building to the south of the plot and set perpendicular to the main house. It was previously captioned "Burn's Folly" on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1833. Griffith’s Valuation records Edward Sproule Esq as the leaseholder, with Henry Echlin, Jas A and Frederick Boyle Esqs as the property owners. The buildings were initially valued at £13 15s 0d, revised annually to £15 0s 0d, and later to £2 by 1908. According to A. Rowan's "The Buildings of Ireland: North West Ulster," the structure is a ruined farmhouse dating back to 1779, once part of a larger complex including outbuildings and which housed the Sproule family. The main house is no longer standing and only the former offices remain. The internal arrangement of rooms, fireplaces, suggests a combination of workers’ dwellings, storage and agricultural uses.
