Inan, Mullybritt, Lisbellaw, Enniskillen, Co.Fermanagh

The pair of houses at Mullybritt were built sometime between 1856 and 1860. They are not depicted on an Ordnance Survey map from 1856, but are recorded in a valuation from 1860. The houses were likely built by John Henderson and John Eadie, who in 1858 established the woollen manufacturing firm Henderson & Eadie Ltd. and took over a nearby mill. Mr. Henderson resided in the house to the north (present no. 34 Farnamullan Rd) while Mr. Eadie lived next door at no. 36. Differences in brick colour and the shape of the first floor lintels suggest the houses may have originally been smaller, two-bay structures, possibly detached, with a central section added later to create the present semi-detached arrangement. The style of brickwork suggests this alteration occurred relatively soon after the houses were built. The rateable value of each house increased from £4-10-0 to £5 in 1864, possibly reflecting this extension, although a larger increase might have been anticipated given the scope of the work. Extensions were added to both houses in or shortly before 1907, likely the large sections to the rear, which appear to date from that period. A small, detached structure to the south-east, built around 1885-86, served as a dairy and laundry. The Henderson and Eadie families, descendants of the original owners, continued to live here until at least the 1930s. Both buildings were listed in August 1977, and the listing includes a wrought iron fence.
