Gate Lodge and Gates, 1 Troy Park, Culmore Road, Londonderry, BT48 7RL

The gate lodge and gates at 1 Troy Park, Culmore Road, Londonderry, were constructed around 1897, coinciding with the building of Troy Hall (listed building HB01/25/009). The gate lodge is a single-storey building built of whinstone with red brick detailing, and has a natural slate roof in a pyramidal shape, topped with a chimney. The north-facing front façade has two modern timber windows with top-opening lights on either side of a panelled front door. A single window is located on the east façade, overlooking the road. A small kitchen extension projects from the south façade, and there is no window facing north. The entrance piers, which originally held gates, are constructed of modelled red brick that matches the brickwork of Troy Hall, and are topped with sandstone coping. A terracotta string course is located near the top of the piers. The bricks used in the gate lodge's construction, according to Dean, were leftover from the building of Troy Hall. The gates and screens are now the current use of the site.
