Description
The building at 293 Clooney Road, Ballykelly, was a thatched cottage originally dating to around 1840. It was situated alongside the main Derry to Limavady Road and first appeared on the Ordnance Survey map of 1855. The cottage had whitened stone walls, with the front elevation rendered in harling. It featured two sheeted doors and three windows on the front: one with a full gable window, another with a three-pane sash, and a third with sashes divided into two panes vertically. Brick chimneys were present, and the roof was noted to be in poor condition at the ridge. The cottage was traditionally owned by the neighbouring property at 295 Clooney Road. It was demolished in 1981 and replaced by a modern bungalow, which is currently occupied by the children of the former occupants. A supplementary listing record from September 1970 documented the building.
