17-23 North Street, Belfast

This is a three-storey, five-bay building located at 17-23 North Street, Belfast, constructed in 1928. Built in cast stone with metal windows, it features panels at the second floor level bearing the embossed letter ‘H’, and a Diocletian window within the central bay. Decorative dentils are present under a moulded cornice, topped by a plain parapet with a low central gable feature. The building was originally constructed for B. Hyam, a hatter and clothier. The ground floor has been significantly altered with replacement shop fronts and entrance doors, which incorporate external roller shutters. Despite being of some local interest, it is considered a relatively late example and did not warrant a full survey. It is not listed, and has no architectural or historical interest.
