Pump at Holm Terrace, Junction of Lurgan and Kilntown Roads, Dromore, Co Down

This water pump is located near the mill and the terraced housing that accommodated mill workers. It is an incomplete example of a closed-head lever-type pump manufactured by Millfield Foundry in Belfast. The column and cap are plain, decorated only with horizontal bands around the column. The handle is missing, and there is a removable inspection plate at the base of the column. The maker’s name is inscribed around the top of the structure. It is currently used to display flower arrangements. The pump is of industrial archaeological interest.

Based on its presence on the 1916 Ordnance Survey map (PRONI Ref OS 10/3/20/12/1) and Millfield Foundry’s establishment in 1907, the pump was likely installed between 1907 and 1915.
