Description
Modernised, rubble-built, one and a half storey house built around the fabric of two single story dwellings of possible pre 1834 construction. The property is set on the W side of the S end of the Deerpark Road, just to the N of Portaferry. Front E elevation includes a small, projecting, lean to porch-like extension to the right which includes a modern panelled door to the N face and modern timber window which continues around all three sides N, E & S). The walls and roof of the extension project beyond the window. The front elevation of the extension window consists of four panes with an upper pane with coloured semi-opaque glass. This elevation of the main building to the left of the extension has three square windows with brick dressings and modern four pane windows, with the two upper panes top hung. Slim concrete cills to all window openings. The west elevation has a small centre lean to kitchen extension with a small top hung window at its eaves. The main building to the left of the extension has a single square bay with brick dressings, with a window similar to east elevation, and, to the right of the extension, there is a modern glazed double door, also surrounded with brick dressings. The South elevation consists of a gable of the main building and the gables of the front and rear extensions. The main gable has one upper level bay, with a three pane window, with centre casement opening, The top half of the gable (i.e. the area encompassed by the eaves) is covered in vertical hung slates. The gable of the front extension has a window similar to that on its front elevation, with vertical hung slates above window, whilst the rear extension has a rectangular four pane window with a small top hung opener and similar vertical hung slates. The N elevation main gable is the same as south elevation. Front extension has modern timber panelled and glazed door to right with coloured semi-opaque fanlight, and adjoining two pane window to left with small, top hung, coloured upper pane. Vertical hung slates above door and window. Rear extension has similar door/window arrangement but with fixed light adjoining window and no fanlight above door. Pitched roof with asbestos slates. Slate-clad, flat-roofed dormers low in centre of east and west elevations with modern timber windows with casement openings. Dormer on east elevation breaks eaves. Small velux window to left of dormer in west elevation. Brown brick chimney in centre of roof with two shallow pots. Boxed in eaves and fascia. PVC gutters and down spouts.
