5 Deerpark Road, Corrog, Portaferry, Co Down, BT22 1PW

This is a large, sprawling farmhouse, originally of probable pre-1834 origin, but significantly extended and modernised in recent years, making it now largely a modern house. It is located to the east of Deerpark Road, approximately one mile north of Portaferry. The building is now L-shaped and entered via a modern door on the east façade of the northern portion. A longer section adjoins this to the south, running east to west. A substantial single-storey porch/sun room extension covers the original main entrance on the south façade of the longer section, which is no longer used as such. The section was originally part single, part two-storey, flanked by single-storey wings, but has since been raised to two storeys throughout. All window openings have modern frames. The roofs are covered in concrete tiles, and the exterior is finished with a limestone chip render, accented with smooth render quoins.

An Ordnance Survey map from 1834 shows a building on the site of the larger wing. Valuation records from 1838 indicate that it was then a part single, part two-storey house belonging to William McBurney, described as relatively newly built and of a high grading ('A'). These details suggest the 1838 building is substantially the same as that surveyed in 1971. The property underwent further significant alterations and extensions in 1979, including raising the original section to two storeys and adding an extension to the rear.
